So, you want to start a youth football and cheerleading program in your community! We are delighted and want to share with you a few things that we think will help you achieve this goal.
Organize your team - Identify people who share your interest and are anxious to give the community and its children a football and cheer program. You will want to call a meeting of these people and begin to lay groundwork. This will be your exploratory committee.
Get the data - Surveying your community is a very important step. You will want to know how many kids are available for your program. Is there enough interest? Are the parents interested? Once this formal or infornal survey is complete, and you are satisfied that there is sufficient interest from kids and parents, then you move on to the next step.
Don't recreate the wheel - Reach out to your conference or to New England Region to learn what best practices are for establishing a successful program. We will talk about things such as forming a board of directors, forming committee, facilities, fields, etc.
