Blackstone Valley Youth Football and Cheerleading, a federally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, serves communities in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. Our mission is to provide a healthy and safe environment for young people ages 5 through 15, inclusive, to learn football, cheerleading, and the principles of good sportsmanship irrespective of their age, gender, nationality, religious beliefs, athletic ability, or ability to pay registration fees.

Blackstone Valley fields football teams at five (5) competitive levels in the All American division plus Flag and Jr. Mites (instructional tackle) programs. The All American division is a grade and age based playing division without weight restrictions. The significance of the All American division is:

  1. Children who go to school together and play together both in school and out of school play competitive football together
  2. Children stay together as they advance through the grades – i.e. this year’s 5th grade team moves together to play as a 6th grade team next year
  3. Children at the same physical and developmental maturity level play together on the same team
  4. Blackstone Valley does not turn away players who previously could not participate in youth football programs because they weigh more than their classmates and friends.

High School coaches view the All American division as a major step forward in youth football in that we can teach perspective players, players that were previously too heavy to participate, the fundamentals of football and better prepare them to play High School football.
